☆ Who is Maison Star? What IS Maison Star? ☆

With so many brands joining the movement of "community lead" brand, and "not just a brand a lifestyle", it's hard to sit here and try to convey the same message without sounding like we are just jumping on the band wagon of "pretend authentic brand". 

So let me tell you about the person behind Maison Star instead. Hi, my name is Brittnee.

Another girl starting her own Byron Bay brand... shocker I know... but hear me out okay!

I grew up in a small town in Canada till the age of 21 then I moved to Australia (thats a story for another day). I moved in 2018 and I guess you could say I was in the midst of "finding myself". I started working for a well known Aussie hippie brand as a Christmas casual. 

While finding my style and my voice I climbed the corporate ladder, well, I climbed the fashion ladder. In 6 years I went from Christmas Casual to Casual, to Supervisor, to Manager, to Content Creator to Social Media Marketing full time. And the thing is, once you devote yourself to a brand and help them grow, find their style, learn everything there is to know.. you think yourself... hey? What if I put this much energy into something of my OWN. My own passions, my own dreams and goals. My. Own. Vision. 

And thats when Maison Star was born. Birthed August 8th 2026.

The idea came to me on a flight. I was known for always wearing a scarf. Whether I used it as a top or around my neck or simply as a place to sit on wet grass, I always had one on hand and had EVERY colour.

These scarfs always had prints or designs, so although many people knew that as my trademark, no one really wanted to borrow them, people just wanted a solid colour. On my flight my phone died I didn't have a charger so my ADHD brain was thinking...  I laid my scarf on my lap, looked down at it and the idea struck me like a falling star. I scribbled for all 2 hours of the flight. Every idea and dream. As if the idea was in my brain all along it just needed the perfect moment to strike. Everything I had learned from my years in fashion and retail was spilling out of me.

Names for colours, sourcing fabrics, name of the brand and prices and inventory and websites and content and how to launch it. Nothing has ever felt more seamless to me before. I landed home and immediately searched for suppliers in Nepal. I found my supplier and although he had no reason to trust a 29 year old starting a new business, he took a chance on me and my ideas and brought them to life. 

And now we have a wonderful relationship. Developing new ideas and colours and prints. My first shipment came in and what a pinch me moment. I was so excited I gifted nearly every person I know one. (number one rule in business, sell your products don't gift them all lol oh well). But I knew that I wanted my brand to feel easy, effortless and practical. That anyone can have a Maison Star scarf and make use of it. It got me thinking, how else can I bring community into Maison. I worked with local girls and photographers for the first shoot, I collaborate and tag and share friends art and projects on Maisons Socials. The more I connected with community and using this platform for art and sharing art the happier it made me.

My idea with Maison is to let people shine. Be the star they are. Bringing in fun happy coloured scarfs to protect your from the sun or just bring a little fun into your life. And with sharing and collaborating as much as I can with local businesses and artists. 

KC Stiches (kc.stiches_) is the first of many artists I am wanting to collaborate with. Because lets continue to make ART not AI. Lets celebrate one another's success, not fear it. Support one another so we can all win.

Maison Star is, I suppose, just "another girl in Byron who started her own brand"... yes. BUT if you look at it with just a litttttle bit different of perspective... Maison Star is Brittnee, a girl who found her footing and home in Australia and ended up in Byron Bay! Where her dreams were never looked at as silly but rather a place where anything you dream is possible! 

I hope Maison Star can bring you as much happiness as it has brought me to share it with you. It truly is just a girl who loves creating and loves these colourful scarfs <3
